Will Insurance Cover You In a War Zone?
Most insurers will not cover you for emergencies arising out of acts of war, civil disobedience, insurrection, or terrorism. But that doesn’t mean you should stop traveling. Just be more careful of your surroundings and choose your destinations with prudence. If you’re traveling to an area about which the Canadian government has issued a warning or has advised against travel, your insurance may not cover you. That should be stated in your policy.
To stay updated on such advisories go to the government website www.voyage.gc.ca. From there you can navigate to a number of sites that are excellent storehouses of information about international travel warnings and advisories for specific countries, information about passport and visa requirements, border crossing news, and information about health precautions in different countries.
